By Breaking Belize News Staff: A domestic dispute between two women turned nearly fatal early Sunday morning, leaving one woman critically injured and a mother and her teenage son on remand for attempted murder.

Thirty-eight-year-old Prunella White, a cook of Central American Boulevard, and her 19-year-old son, Jermaine Belisle, a construction worker of the same address, were arraigned today in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Coney Drive. They were jointly charged with the attempted murder of 36-year-old Samira Gentle, a forklift operator of North Creek, Belize City, who is White’s girlfriend.

The pair appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6, where they were read two counts each: one count of attempted murder and one count of use of deadly means of harm. It is alleged that White used a machete to inflict chop wounds on Gentle, while Belisle used a knife to stab her. Due to the seriousness of the offenses, no plea was taken and no bail was offered. Both were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until February 25, 2026.

According to police, the incident occurred around 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Central American Boulevard residence. Investigations revealed that Gentle was drinking and socializing with White when an argument erupted. The dispute escalated into a violent confrontation involving White and her son.

Police were alerted around 12:40 a.m. and responded to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where Gentle was found unconscious with multiple chop and stab wounds. She remains listed in critical condition.

Scenes of Crime technicians processed the scene and recovered a 12-inch kitchen knife and a 32-inch machete, along with blood swabs. Police also confirmed that White surrendered herself at the scene and, during a recorded interview in the presence of a justice of the peace, admitted to chopping Gentle with a machete. Based on the investigation and statements obtained, both White and Belisle were jointly charged later that day.

Police investigations are continuing.
