By Aaron Humes: A mother and child are in treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) following a house fire this morning.
An elevated wooden structure on Racoon Street Extension went up in flames just after 9 a.m. We understand the mother and toddler rushed out of the house, suffering burns as they did so.
Ambulance and Fire Service personnel responded and put out the flames but could not save the house and its contents.
Further details are pending as investigations by the Fire Service and Police get underway.
