By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A mother and her young child lost their lives in a late-night house fire on Sunday in San Felipe Village, Orange Walk District.
According to reports, the blaze started sometime before midnight and quickly engulfed the wooden structure. Firefighters responded but were unable to save the victims, who were trapped inside.
One other child, believed to be the daughter of the deceased woman, suffered serious burn injuries and was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire as police continue to process the scene and gather statements from witnesses.
Police are expected to release the names of the victims once family members have been formally notified.
