By Aaron Humes: A traffic accident which occurred shortly after 7 on Saturday night in Ranchito, Corozal District, involving a black SUV and a pickup truck, has left a mother and child injured.
According to initial reports, the woman was driving the SUV towards Corozal with her daughter seated in the rear passenger seat when the pickup, traveling in the opposite direction, veered into their lane, allegedly causing the collision. The force of the impact caused the SUV to spin multiple times before plunging down an embankment off the highway. The SUV was observed with extreme front-end damage. The driver suffered multiple injuries, but both she and the child, who reportedly sustained an arm injury, are reported to be in stable condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the pickup and his male passenger were observed appearing to be under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, the driver refused to provide a urine sample. Both men are listed in stable condition.
