By Aaron Humes: Former Leader of the Opposition and of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Moses “Shyne” Barrow, appearing on social media, is lending support to a relief drive organized to support hurricane-ravaged Jamaica, which experienced Category 5 Hurricane Melissa in October.

Barrow is shown with American actor and singer Tyrese Gibson and television and music producer Mona Scott-Young, as Gibson describes the efforts to support Jamaica. Also lending a hand is rapper/entertainer Busta Rhymes, born Trevor Smith Jr. in New York to immigrants from Jamaica.

Barrow said, “God bless the people of Jamaica, that is one of my favorite places in the world, and the people of Belize are praying for Jamaica – but more than pray, we want to help, so we encourage everybody to go to the link on my brother Tyrese’s Instagram and do what you can so that we can help the wonderful people of Jamaica.” He agrees to put the link on his own Instagram and mentions that his first music video was shot in Jamaica. Scott-Young added her own plea for continued support.

Barrow was attending the Miami leg of Art Basel, a for-profit, privately owned and managed, international art fair staged annually in Basel (Switzerland), Miami Beach (USA), Hong Kong (China) and Paris (France) which has become a stage for networking and linking celebrities with humanitarian causes.

Gibson said he was “expressing gratitude” for the extensive support and supplies on hand and that the plane would be “wheels up” once Busta shows up with more pallets of goods.
