By Zoila Palma: Today, the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) Committee, under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and New Growth Industries informed that National Agriculture and Trade Show 2026, held on April 30 and on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of May, 2026, was attended by over 37,333 registered visitors, regional delegates, and guests.
“Overall attendance at the show increased by approximately 6,000 attendees compared with the previous year’s total and was a minimal decrease from the 2024 total of 41,000 attendees,” the committee said.
Held under the theme “Advancing Smart Agriculture: Building a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Belizean Food System”, the show featured an increase of 13% in the number of concessions stands, food stalls, and commercial booths compared to the previous four years.
In addition, the 2nd annual Cabalgata expanded participation from 34 registered riders in 2025 to 156 participants in 2026, along with two musical bands and three floats. The Cabalgata serves as a tribute to Belize’s agricultural roots and the enduring relationship between communities and livestock.
“Minister of Agriculture Rodwell Ferguson acknowledged the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and New Growth Industries; the Police Department; the Farmers of the Year; Sau lo Mesh; Yoalma Pocasagne and Jesua Tzub, and all sponsors, supporters and collaborators for contributing to this successful event, while we continue to emphasize the need for innovative, sustainable agricultural practices to secure food production against climate challenges,” the Ministry said.
