By Horace Palacio: Belize is set to experience a mix of cloudy spells and scattered showers today as relatively moist conditions remain over the country. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts that a few showers will develop throughout the day, affecting various parts of the country, with a slight decrease in rainfall expected by tonight.
Marine conditions will remain moderate, with winds coming from the east at 10-15 knots. The sea state is forecasted to be moderate, with wave heights ranging from 4 to 6 feet. Small craft operators are advised to proceed with caution, particularly in open waters.
Temperatures will be warm and comfortable throughout the day. Coastal areas are expected to reach highs of 84°F (29°C) before cooling to 76°F (24°C) overnight. Inland temperatures will be slightly warmer, peaking at 86°F (30°C) during the day before dropping to 72°F (22°C) at night. In the hills, temperatures will be cooler, ranging between 73°F (23°C) and 65°F (18°C).
Looking ahead, the forecast for Thursday suggests that a few showers will affect northern and coastal areas during the day. However, by Thursday night, rain activity is expected to decrease, leaving only isolated showers.
Today’s tidal schedule includes a low tide at 8:47 AM, a high tide at 3:03 PM, and another low tide at 11:04 PM. Tomorrow’s early high tide is forecast for 5:33 AM. Sunrise occurred at 6:23 AM, with sunset expected at 5:50 PM. The moon will rise at 11:34 AM today and set at 12:03 AM tomorrow.
Forecaster Francisca Wellington advises Belizeans to be prepared for cloudy skies and occasional showers today, while those engaging in marine activities should be mindful of moderate sea conditions.
