By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans can expect cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine today as moist and unstable conditions persist over the area.
The 24-hour forecast from the National Meteorological Service calls for periods of rain, a few showers, and isolated thunderstorms this morning, mostly over central and northern parts of the country. Conditions will ease this afternoon, with activity becoming isolated, before increasing again late tonight over southern areas.
Light winds from the east to southeast at 5 to 10 knots will prevail. The sea will remain slight, with waves between 1 and 3 feet.
High temperatures are expected at 86°F along coastal areas, 90°F inland, and 78°F in the hills. Overnight lows will fall to 78°F on the coast, 74°F inland, and 67°F in the hills.
In the region, Hurricane Gabrielle was located early this morning about 210 miles southeast of Bermuda, moving north-northwest at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph. Gabrielle is of no concern to Belize.
For Tuesday, forecasters expect mostly cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms in the morning, a decrease during the afternoon, and redevelopment over southern and coastal areas at night.
