By Zoila Palma: Miss World Belize Faith Edgar continues to make her mark on the international stage, delivering a powerful presentation during the Miss World Head-to-Head Challenge on August 22.
Representing Belize among contestants from the Americas and Caribbean, Edgar used the platform to highlight her passion for dentistry and her mission to improve oral health among Belizean youth.
During her presentation, Edgar drew attention to the importance of oral health education, prevention and access to dental care. Speaking about the global impact of oral disease, she noted that nearly 3.5 billion people worldwide are affected by oral health conditions.
“As a future dentist, I didn’t just want to treat this disease; I wanted to prevent it before it even began,” Edgar said.
Edgar is the founder of “Smiles for Belize”, an initiative built around three pillars—education, prevention and access to care. Her presentation formed part of the Head-to-Head Challenge, which gives Miss World contestants an opportunity to share personal experiences and advocate for causes ranging from healthcare and education to environmental protection, bullying and disabilities.
With the Miss World pageant set for September 5, Edgar says she is now entering the final stretch of a journey filled with memorable experiences.
Reflecting on her time at the competition, she shared, “It’s crazy to think that in about a week, this journey will already be a memory.”
