Hoy captivated the audience during the national costume segment, wearing a vibrant design that highlights Belize’s rich cultural heritage and urgent climate change message.
Her costume, titled “Xwankil” (meaning “power”), is inspired by the Maya Deer Dance and emphasizes the Maya people’s deep connection to the land.
Featuring antlers, mirrors, and imagery of burning forests, the ensemble underscores the need for global awareness of climate challenges and sustainable resource management.
The Miss Universe Belize Organization also expressed gratitude to Belize Bank Ltd. for their support as the official Evening Gown Sponsor.
Reflecting on the significance of her journey, Hoy shared, “Father, it’s in your hands now. You’ve brought me here for a reason. May the Holy Spirit guide me tonight. Amen! Thank you, Belize, I couldn’t ask for a better country to represent or a better group of supporters. Love you.”
As the competition unfolds, Hoy stands as a proud ambassador of Belize, embodying the nation’s beauty, spirit, and commitment to global issues.
The prestigious competition will host its finals on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
