By Zoila Palma: Isabella Zabaneh has officially been crowned Miss Universe Belize 2025, emerging as a modern ambassador for Belize with a powerful message of pride, progress, and purpose.
Educated, driven, and deeply connected to her Belizean roots, Zabaneh represents a new generation of leaders championing causes such as education, environmental conservation, and cultural diversity.
She will represent Belize on the international stage at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, scheduled to take place on November 21 in Thailand.
As part of the lead-up to the global competition, the Miss Universe Belize Foundation has launched its highly anticipated National Costume Design Competition, inviting Belizean designers to bring their vision of the nation’s spirit to life.
Public voting is now open for the national costume design competition.
The winner of the competition will be selected through public voting, with the design that receives the highest combined number of likes on Facebook and Instagram taking the crown. Voting is open now and closes on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
Below are the three featured designs:
Title: “Guardian of the Emerald Canopy”
A mythical rainforest warrior queen stands as a fierce defender of Belize’s natural treasures. Draped in vibrant green and adorned with symbolic detailing, the costume features a majestic mechanized keel-billed toucan perched on her back, its head gently tilting side to side. The design speaks to the bond between humanity and nature and reminds viewers that conservation is not passive — it is a heroic duty.

Title: “The Spirit of the Toucan”
Inspired by the brilliant colors and form of Belize’s national bird, this design dazzles with a sculpted, feather-sequined bodice and a dramatic toucan headpiece. A flowing train of multicolored feathers and bold, expansive wings evoke freedom, strength, and flight. The costume captures the vibrance of Belize’s wildlife with elegance and high-fashion flair.
Designer: Zair Meighan
Title: “When Wings Unfold”
Radiating national pride and natural beauty, this design celebrates the iconic keel-billed toucan with radiant feathers, shimmering gemstones, and striking contrasts of yellow and black. It blends visual impact with poetic symbolism: “When a keel-billed toucan’s wings unfold, Belize’s heart takes hold.”
Belizeans are encouraged to show their support by voting and celebrating the rich artistry and identity behind each design. The winning costume will be unveiled at the Miss Universe competition in Thailand.
