By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Following a spate of traffic accidents which have tragically claimed several lives over the last few weeks, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport is urging drivers, passengers, and pedestrians to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic regulations during the Christmas season. To enhance road safety, the Ministry will increase traffic patrols and roadside checks throughout the Christmas season and will be issuing fines for violations of traffic laws
“The Ministry urges all road users to exercise caution and follow traffic rules, including speed limits, seatbelt requirements, and pedestrian crossing signals,” the Ministry of Transport said in a press release on Monday.
“Drivers are also reminded to avoid distractions, such as mobile phone use, and to designate a sober driver if planning to consume alcohol.”
To ensure safe travel, the Ministry recommended drivers to carry out proper vehicle maintenance before embarking on long-distance trips. Routine checks can prevent breakdowns and contribute to a smooth and safe journey.
The Ministry’s message is clear: “Together, we can make this holiday season safe and enjoyable for everyone.”
The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport said they wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season.
