Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change investigates alleged wrongdoing at Belize Solid Waste Management Authority

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change says that it has commenced an investigation into alleged wrongdoing at the Belize Solid Waste Management Authority.

The Ministry has been in communication with the Belize Police Department who has assigned investigators to investigate the alleged misconduct.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the Ministry has opted not to disclose specific details that could potentially hinder the process.

The findings from the investigation will be forwarded to both the Ministry of the Public Service and the Belize Police Department for any necessary disciplinary actions.

During the August 6 cabinet meeting, Minister of Sustainable Development Orlando Habet informed fellow ministers of the situation.

“The Ministry of Sustainable Development is committed to upholding transparency and accountability in all related matters. We assure the public that necessary actions will be taken to address the matter accordingly. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to ensure the integrity of our operations within the ministry,” the Ministry said.
