By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government handed over 477 water meters and corresponding plumbing fixtures to representatives of water boards from villages in the Cayo, Stann Creek, and Toledo Districts.
The meters and fixtures valued at BZ $123,000 will allow each recipient water board to connect households in their community to the village water system.
The Ministry noted that the meters will allow for expansion through new connections/installations, water regulation, and conservation, which will help each water board improve its efforts at self-sustainability.
The donation is part of a recent acquisition of 1,300 water meters, which the Ministry is distributing to water boards countrywide.
The Ministry continues to work toward its mission of ensuring that Belizeans in rural communities have reliable access to potable water in their homes.
