Press Release
Today, the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government, in its ongoing mission to improve rural infrastructure, officially handed over an essential supply of water system expansion materials and power infrastructure to San Estevan Village. This event marks a key step in the effort to enhance water access and reliability for residents in the Orange Walk District.
The inventory of materials includes high-grade piping to expand the distribution network to more households and a heavy-duty 30 kW V8 diesel generator designed to ensure system resilience during power fluctuations. This investment is intended to address the community’s growth by equipping the local waterboard with the tools needed for reliability and better water service delivery. By providing these materials, the Ministry is helping to ensure that the village can maintain consistent service to all households.
The handover ceremony was attended by Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize; Hon. Oscar Requena, Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government; Mr. Valentino Shal, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government, and members of the San Estevan Village Council and the water board.
By strengthening the technical capabilities of San Estevan, the Ministry is ensuring that the community has the same level of dependable water service found in any village across Belize.
