By Zoila Palma: On Monday April 13, 2026, the Ministry of National Defence & Border Security honored BDF officers on the Haiti deployment.
Awardees of mission medals were presented to Lieutenant Colonel Ermil Coh and Captain Claudio Quiroz.
The medals were pinned by Minister Florencio Marin Jr. in the presence of troops from the recipients’ current units.
Lieutenant Colonel Coh and Captain Quiroz deployed to Haiti on 12 September 2024 as part of the CARICOM Joint Task Force-Haiti (CJTF): Bahamas, Belize, Jamaica.
During the almost 8-month mission, they integrated with the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission-Haiti (MSS), which was mandated to combat gangs in order to restore peace and security in Haiti.
“Their participation spanned operational and linguistic domains. Their participation in the MSS ended on 15 April 2026 when they were relieved by a second CJTF contingent,” the BDF said.
