By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On June 25, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Northern Sugar Cane Growers Association and the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government.

“This MOU is more than a document—it symbolizes our collective determination to build a future where no child is forced to sacrifice their childhood for economic survival,” the Ministry expressed.

The MOU embodies the belief that economic progress must never come at the cost of human dignity and basic rights.

“We are committed to ensuring that our children can grow up in a safe, supportive environment, free from exploitation. Together, we are making strides toward a brighter, child labour-free Belize,” the Ministry added.
