By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) has called on those who erected various roadside signs and memorials along the George Price Highway to remove them as part of the ongoing Upgrading Project between La Democracia and Belmopan. This notice is particularly directed toward residents and businesses in the area.
All business signs and roadside memorials—including crosses and other commemorative markers—located within the road reserve must be removed to facilitate the construction work. “The Ministry recognizes the personal significance of these memorials and are committed to handling this process with the utmost respect and sensitivity. Removals must be completed by March 2, 2026, in preparation for construction work,” the Ministry statement said.
Furthermore, after the completion of the project, individuals and businesses interested in re-establishing their signs within the road reserve will need to go through a formal re-application process with the Ministry.
The MIDH appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the public as they work toward enhancing the safety and quality of the nation’s highways. For additional information or concerns regarding the project, residents are encouraged to reach out to the Project Execution Unit at 614-3195.
