By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing (MIDH) is commencing rehabilitation works on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway just north of Silk Grass Village.
MIDH will rehabilitate the TV Ramos Highway through the application of hot-mix asphalt overlay that would extend the service life of the existing road structure.
Thus far, the work progresses in a timely manner.
However, several segments of the road pavement structure have been compromised as these portions show persistent moisture retention and differential settlement in the deeper pavement layers. The loss of structural integrity in the foundation layer translated to the persistent appearance of failures in the form of surface cracks and potholes. As a necessary repair, the full pavement depth will be reconstructed over the road segment affected.
Since this road segment is under the defects period, the Ministry will act on the opportunity that the contractor is present and working on the project site to have the repairs done immediately.
“The works will be done in a way to minimize road user inconvenience,” MIDH noted.
Nevertheless, road users are urges to exercise caution when passing through active construction zones.
Please do not speed; be courteous, respect other road users, and drive with due care and attention.
