By Zoila Palma: On October 20, 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries signed a contract for the construction of a new police station in San Narciso, Corozal.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries Kareem Musa alongside Ramiro Ramirez, Area Representative for Corozal South West, Gilroy Usher and LV and Sons Construction Limited, the company that has been awarded the contract to carry out the works.
According to CEO for the Ministry of Economic Transformation Carlos Pol, the construction of the San Narciso Police Station forms part of the Belize Integral Security Programme (BISP), a BZ$60 million initiative financed by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).
The program seeks to enhance citizen security and improve the operational capacity of the Belize Police Department (BPD) through upgraded infrastructure and modern equipment.
The police station, valued at BZ$928,509.49, will provide more than 3,000 square feet of workspace and include specialized areas such as a domestic violence unit, a secure evidence room, private interview rooms, a crime investigation office, and a conference room.
The Ministry noted that it will also feature living quarters for officers assigned to the station.
Once completed, the facility will serve an estimated 40,000 residents across 13 villages in the Corozal South West constituency, improving police presence and response times in northern Belize.
Minister Musa described the project as “a tangible investment in community safety and police welfare,” adding that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing the nation’s law enforcement infrastructure.
