By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Galen University joined the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) Belize in celebrating World Patient Safety Day.
World Patient Safety Day is observed on September 17 and focuses on the importance of patients’ safety.
This year’s theme ‘Engaging patients for patient safety’ recognizes the crucial role patients, families and caregivers play in the safety of healthcare.
Galen University’s Sustainable Development Class, commemorated the importance of the day with a lecture on the importance of patient safety and its alignment with Sustainable Development Goal number 3 – Good Health and Wellbeing.
The class actively engaged in a discussion on Belize’s contribution to patient safety and our requisite national needs for the achievement of patient safety.
Galen University remains committed to the achievement of Sustainable Development in Belize and will continue to raise awareness and empower young advocates and working professionals with the necessary tools and skills to accomplish national and global goals.
