By Zoila Palma: As part of Caribbean Mosquito Awareness Week, the Ministry of Health & Wellness has announced the procurement and distribution of six new Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) foggers to district vector control units across Belize, boosting the country’s ability to fight mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue.
Valued at $170,000, the new equipment arrives just ahead of the rainy season, when mosquito populations and dengue cases typically increase.
With the addition of these foggers, the ministry’s total spraying fleet now stands at 20 units, significantly enhancing national coverage and control efforts.
The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding public health through proactive investment in disease prevention tools.
These ULV foggers, will ensure that the vector control teams are adequately equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to mosquito-related health threats.
