By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Executive Secretary of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (SE-COMISCA SICA), has launched a nationwide field study to assess the implementation of the HEARTS Hypertension Clinical Pathway in Belize.
The initiative forms part of the Intermediate Level Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) – 3rd Cohort, with participating teams conducting surveys across public primary care facilities countrywide.
The study aims to evaluate healthcare providers’ experiences, identify operational challenges, and explore opportunities to strengthen hypertension management.
According to the MOHW, findings from the study will support ongoing efforts to improve hypertension control and enhance Belize’s response to noncommunicable diseases, ensuring better health outcomes for all citizens.
