By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Health and Wellness, together with Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI), and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, has collaborated to bring the WHO SPECS 2030 Initiative to Belize.
This global effort, launched in 2024, aims to help countries increase the number of people who can afford and access the right spectacles by 40%.
The Ministry noted that this initiative will help to enhance the work of eyeglasses professionals and organizations, ensuring that every Belizean, regardless of income or location, can see well enough to learn, work, and reach their full potential.
