Ministry of Education says investigation underway into accident involving school bus

By Zoila Palma:  Today, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology issued a statement confirming that on Monday, 1 June 2026, a school bus assigned to transport students of Julian Cho Technical High School was involved in an accident, just outside of Pueblo Viejo Village in the Toledo District.

The Ministry says that approximately 32 students were on board at the time of the incident, including students from the Toledo ITVET.

Four students were transported to the San Antonio Polyclinic for treatment of minor injuries. The remaining students were transferred to another bus.

“The Ministry is grateful that no serious injuries have been reported and extends its support to the students, families, and school community. An investigation is underway to establish all the facts surrounding the incident, and the Ministry will continue to work closely with the school community to provide any additional support that may be needed,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry reiterated that the safety and well-being of students remain their highest priority.
