By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology has received over 20,000 requests for financial assistance this year.
“Our commitment to making education work for Belize compels us to assist students to attain the skills, knowledge, and values needed to contribute to the meaningful development and prosperity of our nation,” the Ministry noted.
During Thursday’s Sitting of the House of Representatives, a Supplementary Allocation Bill was tabled for education.
This bill will allow the Ministry, the financial space to honour commitments made and support future requests for financial assistance.
Earlier this year, the Ministry indicated that since the start of 2023, it processed17,984 rеquеѕtѕ аnd раіd оut ВZ $11,349,440 mіllіоn іn grаntѕ fоr еduсаtіоnаl аѕѕіѕtаnсе, mоrе thаn еvеr bеfоrе.
