By Zoila Palma: On October 29, 2025, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology handed over 447 new Chromebooks to students of Bishop Martin High School in the Orange Walk District.
The donation forms part of the ongoing Skills for the Future Program, a national initiative aimed at equipping Belizean students with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving digital era.
Funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the program focuses on promoting digital literacy, inclusion, and innovation in classrooms across Belize.
Through this initiative, students are gaining access to technology that supports e-learning, research, and collaboration — key components for thriving in the modern workforce.
The Chromebook distribution at Bishop Martin High marks another milestone in the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide in education.
Nationwide, more than 5,000 e-learning devices will be distributed to schools under this program.
