Ministry of Education and Caribbean Development Bank break ground for new Primary school in Trial Farm, Orange Walk

By Zoila Palma: On June 29, 2026, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology and the Caribbean Development Bank held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new pre-primary and primary school in the Black Water area of Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk.

The ceremony brought together officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), including Ramon Cervantes, Minister of State; Dr Isaac Solomon, Vice President of Operations, CDB; Yolanda Gongora, Chief Education Officer; Ingrid Acosta, Senior Project Coordinator; Elbert Ellis and other CDB officials, as well as the Project Execution Unit.

The Ministry says that the new school directly addresses the need for accessible, early-childhood and primary education in the region.

The facility will provide a stronger academic foundation and unlock brighter future opportunities for youth across Black Water and its surrounding communities.
