Press Release

Dr. Hon. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Constitution & Religious Affairs, Indigenous Affairs, and Transportation, extends sincere appreciation to all participating media houses and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) for their meaningful engagement during the recently held roundtable discussion on the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative for the modernization of Belize’s transport sector.

The session, held on June 17, 2025, at the Pink Ginger Conference Room, Best Western Belize Biltmore Hotel, Belize City, provided a platform for insightful dialogue and collaboration as the Ministry continues its work to modernize the nation’s bus system and to ensure a safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation network for all commuters. The contributions from the media were particularly appreciated, as they play a vital role in keeping the public informed and fostering transparency in national development. The Ministry also acknowledges the critical role of the NTUCB in representing the interests of workers and thanks them for their active participation in the discussion.

This roundtable marks a significant step in the Ministry’s ongoing engagement with stakeholders. Discussions with bus operators, unions, and the public continue, aimed at fostering a collaborative approach to implementing the necessary reforms for an efficient, responsive, and commuter-focused transport system.

The Ministry found the discussion both fruitful and encouraging. The insights shared reaffirmed the mutual commitment to building a transportation sector that is efficient, safe, reliable, and sustainable for all Belizeans.
