By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) announces that vendor spaces are quickly filling up for the World Food Day 2024 celebration on Friday, October 18, at the Central Farm Research and Development Station in the Cayo District, which starts at 9:00 a.m.
“If you’re interested in displaying or selling food at this year’s World Food Day, please note that there are only four spots remaining. Vendors are required to have a valid food handler’s permit,” MAFSE stated late Tuesday, October 15.
“There is no fee to sell or display your items, but vendors must provide their own tents, tables, and chairs. Don’t miss this opportunity!”
World Food Day, observed globally, is being celebrated under the theme, “The Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future – Leave No One Behind.” This year’s celebration, held worldwide under the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), emphasizes the importance of food security and agriculture in ensuring a sustainable future for all. The Ministry of Agriculture aims to raise awareness about these critical issues and encourage collective action to build a world where everyone has access to nutritious food.
MAFSE invites Belizeans, particularly farmers, to join them in celebrating World Food Day 2024 and to be part of the effort to ensure that no one is left behind in the quest for a better life and a better future.
“If you’re a farmer looking to purchase seedlings, fruit trees, or want to explore the best in agriculture, don’t miss this year’s World Food Day event,” MAFSE said.
The Ministry added that the event will feature displays of locally grown foods and have commercial and agricultural exhibits promoting food and nutrition security. Featured exhibitors include:
FAO Booth
World Food Programme
Ministry of Health
Cooperative Department
Central Farm Unit Display
Agro-Processing Booth
Caribbean Chicken
ROC Taiwan Mission
BMDC
BAHA
Sustainable Development
CRESAP
GALEN
BLPA
Poultry Association
IICA
JICA
“Whether you’re looking to buy plants, vegetables, chicken, food, gardening materials, seeds, or animal feed, we’ve got you covered. Plus, there will be plenty of booths providing vital information for farmers and health checks for visitors.”
World Food Day is a significant occasion that highlights the essential role of agriculture in our society. The Ministry of Agriculture encourages everyone to participate in this event and contribute to the global movement towards food security and sustainability.
