By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) is inviting dedicated beekeepers across Belize to register for a specialized training initiative titled “The Bee Control and Management Program.” This program is aligned with the Cabinet-approved paper “Proposal for Sustainable Bees’ Control Measures in Belize,” and aims to promote environmentally responsible wild swarm management.
According to MAFSE, this program is designed to equip participants with the technical knowledge and field skills necessary to manage wild bee swarms in alignment with environmentally sustainable practices. The training also supports national efforts to balance agricultural productivity with ecological preservation.
- Must be a BAIMS-registered beekeeper
- Must possess Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must have access to a vehicle
Interested beekeepers are encouraged to register via the provided link. Selection will be based on established criteria, and successful applicants will be notified with details regarding the date, time, and venue of the workshop.
This initiative marks a significant step toward harmonizing apiculture with national environmental goals. Beekeepers are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their expertise and contribute to sustainable bee management across the country.
