By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, in collaboration with the Central Execution Unit of the Ministry of Finance hosted a workshop to advance the Sustainable and Inclusive Belize Project.
The workshop, designed for technical officers and project officials, provided an overview of the project’s implementation work plan, communication strategy, and sustainability framework for the agriculture sector.
The implementation of the project has been contracted to a consolidated group comprising the Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute (SIRDI), Ya’axché Conservation Trust, and Wilderness Group Consulting.
Additionally, communication consultants from Congenia presented an overview of the project’s communication plan and branding guidelines to ensure effective messaging throughout the different phases of implementation.
The Ministry noted that the primary goal of the Sustainable and Inclusive Belize Project is to enhance incomes and promote sustainable livelihoods within the agriculture and tourism sectors by improving the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening climate resilience, and fostering environmental sustainability.
To support these objectives, the Government of Belize will provide technical and financial assistance to small farmers, farmer groups, and MSMEs in the agriculture sector, with a special focus on women-led, Indigenous-led, and migrant-led enterprises.
