By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Agriculture is hosting a Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture training.
The 5-day training is being held at the National Agriculture and Trade Show Grounds.
The training seeks to empower farmers with climate smart information relating to agriculture.
The Ministry says that the training program is supported by the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology, the National Meteorological Service and the University of Reading, and funded through the Climate Resilient Agriculture Project, CRESAP by the World Bank.
During the ceremony Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries Rodwell Ferguson and Minister of State Alex Balona addressed participants, which come from the MAFS-NGI Extension Service, Sustainable and Inclusive Belize, the Sugar Industry Research and Development Institute, UB and OIRSA.
Both ministers highlighted the importance of agriculture to the country and the way climate smart knowledge enables farmers to be better at their craft.
The training includes practical sessions at Central Farm and ends on Friday.
