By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), in collaboration with Georgetown Technical High School (GTHS), is inviting everyone to the World Food Day 2025 celebration on Friday, October 17, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at GTHS in Georgetown, Stann Creek District.
Held under the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and Better Future,” the event will spotlight Belize’s agricultural diversity, food sovereignty, and cultural richness through a full day of exhibits, performances, and interactive activities.
Luis Pook, Communications Director at MAFSE, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to displaying national resilience and innovation.
“All departments and units of the ministry will mount displays to showcase our food sovereignty,” Pook said.
“The school will also present its products and programs, and businesses are invited to participate with product exhibitions. The day begins with a ceremony where speakers will address the theme of our food sovereignty and related issues.”

GTHS, known for its technical and agricultural programs, will feature student-led presentations and school-grown products, reinforcing the role of youth in shaping Belize’s food future. The celebration will also include:
