By Zoila Palma: On July 15, 2026, the Cayo Extension Service, funded by the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture Project (CRESAP), conducted a training on Animal Husbandry Practices in Cattle.
The training was facilitated by Livestock Extension Officer Adelita Jones.
The objective was to strengthen farmers’ knowledge and skills in proper cattle management practices.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that 20 cattle farmers participated in the training.
BAHA technicians delivered a presentation on animal health, focusing on disease prevention, vaccination, parasite control, and biosecurity measures.
Practical demonstrations were conducted to reinforce the topics presented during the training.
Farmers actively participated by asking questions and sharing their experiences and challenges in cattle production.
In addition, Agro Vet Jiron & Sons, Biomeds Ltd., and Reimers Feed Mill featured booths showcasing products related to animal health, nutrition, and livestock management.
Each participating company generously donated prizes and livestock care packages for the farmers. The donated items will assist farmers in improving their animal husbandry practices and herd productivity.
The Ministry noted that this collaboration between the Cayo Extension Service, BAHA, and the private sector contributed significantly to the success of the event.
