Ministry of Agriculture Annual General Meeting starts on Thursday in Spanish Lookout

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Spanish Lookout on Thursday and Friday, August 8-9, 2024.

The 2024 AGM provides MAFSE with the opportunity to share insights, achievements, and plans.

“The success of the AGM is a testament to the collaborative spirit and dedication of all our partners in development,” said the invitation to the participants, which includes MAFSE officers and representatives from collaborating organizations and stakeholders of the three-pronged ministry.

“We look forward to continued collaboration as we strive to achieve our collective goals in agriculture, food security, and enterprise development.”

The main address is being delivered by MAFSE Minister Jose Abelardo Mai.

The following are the topics of the presentations to be made on the first day of the MAFSE AGM on Thursday, August 8, 2024:

• Policy & Statistics – Gregorio Canto, Policy Unit
• Research – Luis Hernandez, Coordinator
• Fruit Trees – Enrique Rivas, Coordinator
• Grains & Projects – Jose Novelo, Director/Program Coordinator, Project Execution Unit
• Extension – Clifford Martinez, Former Director of Extension, Climate Change / Water Management Officer
• Livestock – Belarmino Esquivel, Principal Agriculture Officer/Program Coordinator
• Update on Shrimp, Traditional – Hugh O’Brien, Chairman BAHA
• Agro-Processing – Earvin Gentle, Coordinator Agro-processing
• Aquaculture – Miguel Sosa, Aquaculture Coordinator
• Pesticide Control Board – Miriam Serrut, Registrar
• Monitoring & Evaluation – Jose Tillett, Project Officer
