Ministry of Agriculture and Taiwan Ambassador inaugurate new Guinea Grass Water System

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 16, 2024, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise Jose Abelardo Mai and Taiwan Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu joined residents of Guinea Grass Village for the official inauguration of the Guinea Grass Water System.

This transformative project, funded through the collaborative efforts of Taiwan and the Government of Belize, will provide potable water to the community, significantly improving the quality of life for residents while strengthening rural infrastructure.

In her remarks, Ambassador Hsu emphasized Taiwan’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development in Belize. She highlighted that this project exemplifies the shared vision of progress, partnership, and empowerment that continues to define the relationship between Taiwan and Belize.

Minister Mai reaffirmed the Belizean government’s unwavering dedication to advancing agriculture and rural development. He underscored the importance of partnerships like this one, which deliver tangible benefits and enhance infrastructure for communities across Belize.

“The Government of Belize remains steadfast in its mission to implement initiatives that enhance livelihoods, support local farmers, and ensure communities have access to essential infrastructure. The Guinea Grass Water System stands as a testament to what can be achieved through cooperation, innovation, and shared goals,” the Ministry noted.
