By Zoila Palma: On December 1, 2025, Caribbean Agricultural Research & Development Institute (CARDI) in collaboration with the Minister of Agriculture hosted a coconut training session at the Toledo Agriculture Station for 35 farmers.
The session was hosted under the theme: “Building Capacity of the Coconut Sector in Belize by Increasing Coconut Field Production Resilience to Climate Change.”
The training was Organized by FAO and facilitated in collaboration with CARDI and the Ministry.
The training focused on strengthening the coconut industry in the district and identify the needs of farmers as production conditions continue to shift.
They also participated in a practical field session, including a visit to a nearby coconut farm.
“This initiative supports farmers in building the skills and knowledge needed to improve coconut production in a changing climate,” the Ministry noted.
