By Zoila Palma: As Belize prepares to celebrate its 45th year of independence, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations Anthony Mahler is encouraging Belizeans at home and abroad to reflect on the traditions, culture and values that make the country unique.
In his Independence message, Mahler highlighted this year’s theme, “Look at Me! I am Belize@45,” calling on Belizeans to share what makes the nation proudly Belizean with the world. “Our timeless traditions and rich cultural heritage are among the many things that make Belize unique,” Mahler said.
The Minister also pointed to Belize’s diversity as one of the country’s greatest strengths, while emphasizing the character of its people. “Across every corner of our country, our diversity is part of our strength,” he said, adding that what truly distinguishes Belize is “the warm spirit of our people that has become known and cherished around the world.”
As September celebrations get underway, Mahler urged Belizeans to look toward the future with optimism while appreciating the country’s journey. “Let us celebrate with pride and positivity,” he said. “Let us honor where we have come from, celebrate who we are today, and look with confidence toward the Belize we are building for tomorrow.”
He extended his best wishes to Belizeans at home and abroad and visitors to the country for a safe, meaningful and enjoyable September Celebrations.
