By Zoila Palma: This week, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, Kareem Musa, continued his district-level outreach with visits to the Corozal Police Station and multiple substations in San Narciso, Pachakan, and Sarteneja, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement infrastructure and officer support across the country.
Minister Musa was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer Sharole Carr, Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado, and Deputy Commissioners of Police.
The delegation met with frontline officers to assess facility conditions, hear concerns directly, and discuss strategies for effective community policing.
During the tour at the Corozal Police Station, officials visited the site of a new police facility to be constructed under the Belize Integral Security Programme.
The project is being funded through a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).
“This station will be a major upgrade that reflects our commitment to modern policing and better service to the Corozal community,” Musa said. “It is about ensuring our officers are properly housed, resourced, and supported in their duties.”
Minister Musa also reminded officers of the Government of Belize’s active land program, which provides access to plots for officers who do not yet own land. He encouraged eligible officers to apply, noting that stability and personal development are integral to strengthening the police force.
Throughout the visit, officers shared insights into local crime trends and social issues specific to their communities. Musa emphasized the importance of strong police-community relations and urged senior officers to continue building public trust through outreach and responsiveness.
The Corozal tour forms part of the ministry’s broader national strategy to modernize police infrastructure, improve officer morale, and expand the reach of support programs to every corner of the country.
