By Zoila Palma: Minister of Health and Wellness, Kevin Bernard joins the global community in reiterating the importance of fighting stigma on World AIDS Day.
“This World AIDS Day, we join Belize, our region, and the global community in reaffirming our commitment to achieving Zero AIDS Deaths by 2030.
This year’s theme calls on all of us to raise awareness on advanced HIV infection, give visibility to the stories behind each case, and inspire a collective response. Every person living with HIV deserves dignity, access to timely treatment, and the assurance that they are not alone,” Minister Bernard said.
Minister Bernard says that the Ministry recognizes the tremendous work of our health professionals, community partners, and civil society organizations who continue to provide education, testing, counseling, and life-saving treatment across the country. “
Your dedication is saving lives every day.
But our mission is not yet complete.
We must continue to fight stigma, expand access to care—especially for those most at risk—and ensure that every Belizean knows their status and receives the support they need,” he added.
“Together, we can end AIDS as a public health threat in Belize,” he said.
