Minister of Health and Wellness discusses sustainable development on water and sanitation at UNGA80

By Zoila Palma:  On September 23, 2025, Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard proudly represented Belize at the UNGA80 Session Side Event in New York.

The event held under the theme, “Commissioning Science-Based Solutions for the Pact for Sustainable Development on Water and Sanitation.”

During his Ministerial Statement, Minister Bernard emphasized the importance of strengthening the link between health and the environment, ensuring universal access to safe water and sanitation, investing in climate-resilient and community-driven solutions and promoting partnerships between Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond.

Minister Bernard’s discussions highlighted Belize’s leadership in advancing sustainable, evidence-based solutions to protect communities and secure a healthier, more resilient future.
