Minister of Economic Transformation and Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre discuss key climate finance initiatives

By Zoila Palma:  Minister of State Dr. Osmond Martinez of the Ministry of Economic Transformation (MET) recently met with Mansfield Blackwood, Assistant Director of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) to discuss key climate finance initiatives and ongoing collaboration.

Minister Martinez thanked CCCCC for its sponsorship and active role in the successful Climate Finance Forum 2025.

The Ministry confirmed its endorsement of a Maya-Led Pathways for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Economies in Belize project for submission to the Green Climate Fund, with CCCCC serving as the accredited entity.

Discussions also included Project Preparation Facilities, including the Integrated Flood Management Project, and the CABRIC Caribbean project, with focus on Belize’s funding allocation and required NDA approval.

Minister Martinez was accompanied by CEO Carlos Pol of the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Leroy Martinez, Acting Director of the Climate Finance Unit, Yuribeth Sarceno, Jason Middleton, from the Climate Finance Unit.

While Diane Wade-Moore, Head Programme from CCCCC was also present along with Ryan Zuniga, Senior Project Development Officer and Darrel Audinette, Project Manager of BACSuF.

The Ministry expressed its sincere gratitude to CCCCC for its continued partnership and optimism for a productive and impactful year ahead.
