Minister of Blue Economy leads critical meeting on Sustainable Waste Management for Caye Caulker and San Pedro

By Zoila Palma:  Today, Minister Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation, alongside Minister Ramiro Ramirez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, and CEO Milagro Matus, held an important meeting to address a long-standing environmental challenge affecting Caye Caulker and San Pedro.

San Pedro Town Council Mayor Walberto “Wally” Nuñez also participated, contributing valuable insights to the discussion.

The primary focus of the meeting was the implementation of sustainable and efficient waste disposal strategies for the islands.

A key topic was modernizing waste management infrastructure and incorporating advanced sanitation solutions to ensure the proper handling and transportation of waste, while prioritizing environmental sustainability and public health.

This collaborative effort reflects the government’s commitment to a cleaner, greener, and healthier future, as they work towards creating a more sustainable and resilient Belize.
