Minister Mai emphasized the importance of alternative financial approaches and nature-based solutions to help the region build resilience against climate impacts.
COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, is taking place from November 11 to 22, 2024, and brings together leaders and negotiators from nearly every country to discuss global climate action.
The conference aims to advance efforts to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, and support vulnerable communities in adapting to climate change.
Key priorities for COP29 include securing enhanced climate finance, strengthening nations’ ability to take bold climate action, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and fostering inclusive, resilient communities.
The conference also provides a platform for business leaders, youth, climate scientists, Indigenous Peoples, and civil society to share insights and best practices for driving collective global action on climate change.
