Minister of Agriculture and Executive Secretariat of the Central American Agricultural Council discuss priorities for Pro Tempore Presidency

By Zoila Palma:  Commencing today, Belize assumes the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Central American Agricultural Council (CAC) for the second half of 2026.

As part of the preparations for this new phase, SECAC Executive Secretary David Martínez held a working meeting with Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and New Growth Industries, Rodwell Ferguson to address the priorities and agenda that the Pro Tempore Presidency will drive forward.

Also participating in the meeting were Minister of State Luis Balona and Clifford Martínez, Director of Climate Change.

Discussions included the commitment to strengthening regional coordination, policy dialogue, and cooperation among member countries to advance an agricultural agenda that is resilient, sustainable, and focused on food security for Central America and the Dominican Republic.
