By Zoila Palma: The Belize Port Authority informed today that the motor vessel Captain America, an offshore supply vessel bearing IMO number 9526382 and flying the Mexican flag, will be calling to Belizean waters for a brief and limited visit.
“The vessel operates primarily within Mexican waters; however, due to domestic regulatory requirements in Mexico relating to vessel documentation, Captain America is legally required to depart Mexican jurisdiction and proceed to a foreign port before re-entering Mexico,” the Belize Port Authority noted.
The Belize Port Authority noted that the vessel’s arrival in Belize is exclusively to satisfy this legal obligation.
Upon anchoring at the designated area, the Captain America will be boarded by the relevant Belizean authorities for standard verification and clearance procedures.
Once outbound clearance is granted, the vessel will promptly depart Belize and return to Mexico.
“The Belize Port Authority emphasizes that the vessel is not authorized to undertake any commercial or operational activities within Belizean waters beyond the required arrival and departure formalities. Belize, in accordance with international maritime practice, will facilitate the vessel’s temporary entry for the limited purpose described,” it added.
The port call is routine and poses no disruption to national maritime operations.
