By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Mexico won six of the eight men fights in the Tres Reyes Promotions weekend card at Swift Hall in Belize City, delivering a night filled with intense bouts and good performances.
In the first match, Jesus Lopez of Mexico secured a unanimous decision (UD) victory over Belize’s Edwin Gonzalez. This set the tone for an evening of competitive and thrilling action.
Julian Pacheco, who was the featured fighter from Belize, fell sick and couldn’t fight, according to Javier Romero, President and Commissioner of the Belize Boxing Council. Pacheco was set to fight against Mexico’s Julian Lezma.
Belize’s Doc Upthegrove followed with an impressive technical knockout (TKO) victory over Paolo Carrillo of Mexico, energizing the local crowd. Fellow Belizean Bryan Paniagua also claimed a unanimous decision victory, defeating Alexis Martinez in a closely fought contest.
However, the Mexican fighters struck back, with Noe Gomez achieving a TKO victory over Eulisses Quetzal of Belize. Carlos Ramirez of Mexico edged out Brian Garbutt Jr. with a split decision victory in a gripping match.
In another standout performance, Roberto Wallen of Mexico won by TKO against Ringo Upthegrove. Julio Mendoza continued the winning streak for Mexico with a UD victory over Wilbert Delgado.
In the single women’s fight between two Mexican boxers, María Cristal Hernández won a split decision over Karol Cime.
The final bout of the night saw Rodrigo Reyes of Mexico narrowly defeat Belize’s Kyle Lewis by split decision, capping off an exciting and action-packed evening of boxing.
