By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Mexican central defender Christian Ramírez, fresh off winning Verdes FC’s eighth national championship on December 13, has completed a move to Deportivo San Benito, the Guatemalan First Division club announced on December 23.
Ramírez, 31, spent the last three seasons commanding the back line for Verdes, where he became one of the Premier League of Belize’s most trusted and experienced defenders. Strong in the air, composed under pressure, and a natural organizer, he played a major role in Verdes’ title‑winning campaign and their defensive consistency.
San Benito welcomed him with an enthusiastic announcement, saying they were “pleased to announce the addition of Christian Ramírez to our squad.” The Guatemalan side highlighted his defensive qualities, noting that “experience, leadership, and defensive solidity arrive to strengthen the Green Fury.”

Their presentation listed him as a central defender with previous ties to Santos Laguna and described his arrival as an important reinforcement for their ambitions in the Guatemalan First Division.
For Verdes, Ramírez’s departure closes a chapter marked by steady growth and championship success. For San Benito, it signals intent as they continue building a competitive roster for the upcoming campaign with their goal being the Guatemala Premier League Liga Mayor).
Ramírez is expected to join the team immediately as preparations continue for the next phase of the season.
Ramírez joins fellow Verdes champion Nahuel Paz, who also signed with San Benito as part of the club’s December reinforcements.
