By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Cyclists who compete in the Men’s Junior/Youth category are all set for the 34th Annual KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Organized by KREM Radio in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) under the regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI), this race promises to be an exciting event for young cycling enthusiasts.
The Men’s Junior/Youth race will start at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Town Hall in Orange Walk Town. Cyclists will travel a 54-mile route along the Philip Goldson Highway, finishing in Belize City in front of Super Store on Central American Blvd.
In the 2024 edition, Tyler Tejeda of Team Valvoline won his second consecutive KREM New Year’s Day Junior Cycling Classic. Tejeda clocked 2:30:21 seconds, narrowly beating G-Flow’s Devin Major and Jaylen Briceño, who finished second and third, respectively. The race last year was noted for its increased pace, finishing 31 minutes and 49 seconds faster than the previous year.
As the young cyclists prepare for the 2025 race, they aim to deliver exceptional performances and strive for victory in this prestigious event.
